Local 106 would like to recognize the amazing career of Chief Shaun Ward. Shaun officially retires today from North Whatcom Fire and Rescue. He began his career as a paid firefighter in 1999 with District 8 and joined North Whatcom in 2007, where he completes his distinguished service.

Shaun has been a proud long-time union member, continuing to support the union even after transitioning to his leadership role as Chief in the latter stages of his career.

Throughout his career, Shaun exemplified professionalism, strength, courage, and unwavering dedication to the fire service.

Please join us in congratulating Chief Shaun Ward on a truly incredible career and wishing him the very best in his well-deserved retirement.

Were honored to share this wonderful post from our friends at the Bellingham Police Department about yesterday’s Shop with a Cop event! It’s a joy to see first responders from across Whatcom County—including many of our own Local 106 firefighters—coming together to bring smiles and holiday cheer to local kids and families.

Events like this are a reminder of the positive impact we can have when we connect with our community outside of emergencies. Thank you to all the public safety personnel, volunteers, and generous sponsors who made this magical day possible.
