About Us
Welcome to Local 106, the firefighter union that unites professional Firefighters and Paramedics in Whatcom County, Washington.
Our members are dedicated to protecting our communities with a high level of Fire, EMS and other hazardous responses that impact residents living in our county. Our union consists of members who work in six different departments and seven different bargaining units across Whatcom County: City of Bellingham, Port of Bellingham, North Whatcom Fire and Rescue, South Whatcom Fire Authority, City of Lynden Fire, and Whatcom County Fire District 1.
We work together to promote the health and safety of our firefighters with several important goals that guide our work. First and foremost, our bargaining units negotiate with respective management to establish fair wages, benefits, and working conditions for our firefighters. Local 106 is passionate about supporting charities and other organizations such as the Burned Children Recovery Foundation‘s “Camp Phoenix“, “Fill the Boot” for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and “Operation Warm“ which provides jackets to school children in need during the winter. Local 106 is also proud to participate with our Benevolent Committee to support and provide funding and donations for other charitable events and causes throughout the year.
We are dedicated to advocating for improved safety standards and equipment to protect our members and the communities we serve. We believe that by working together, we can create safer communities for everyone. Thank you for visiting our website and learning more about Local 106.
